Roundtable on Innovation, access and partnerships: COVID-19 lessons learned to prepare better for future pandemics

Chatham House’s in collaboration with African Centre for Disease Control, Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) hosted an in-person two days, invitation only, roundtable discussion under the Chatham House rule. The event examined the lessons learnt so far, focusing on the following themes: innovation, access and partnering.

Two years into the pandemic, everyone who has been involved in the COVID-19 response is still learning everyday how to do more and better. The world was woefully unprepared for this pandemic and, collectively, we have worked to outrun a virus that has so far proven faster than we have been. SARS-CoV-2 has evolved, persisted, and proved predictions wrong. There are many unanswered questions, and our mutual knowledge is changing and adapting along with the virus.
