Delivering vaccination to all
IFPMA encourages the discovery of, and access to, life-saving and life-enhancing vaccines, which not only improve the health of people everywhere, but also create stronger, and more productive communities.
Our members are committed to the goals of the Decade of Vaccines Global Vaccine Action Plan, to deliver vaccination to all by 2020 by:
- Ensuring a reliable supply of quality and effective vaccines, and
- Developing new vaccine technologies to extend the benefits of immunization to everyone and provide better protection from life-threatening infectious diseases.
Vaccines have proven to be one of the most effective preventative technologies in the fight against infectious diseases, ridding the world of smallpox, driving polio to the brink of eradication, and virtually eliminating measles, diphtheria, and rubella in many parts of the world. New generation vaccines against pneumococcal disease and rotavirus disease are already making the same kind of public health impact as their pioneering predecessors, and could save about one million children’s lives every year.
However, one in five children still lacks access to basic immunizations.
The pathway towards universal immunization is driven by the global vaccines community, united by a common challenge to save lives, improve health, and ensure long-term prosperity through the miracle of life-saving vaccines.
As a group of private sector companies, our members can make a unique and vital contribution to that collective effort, by scaling up supply for today and developing new and improved vaccines for tomorrow.
Our partnerships enable us to provide the latest state-of-the-art vaccines to the richest and poorest communities in the world alike, reducing the time lag that exists for virtually all other high-tech innovations.
