The 6th IFPMA Asia Regulatory Conference held in 2011 in Republic of Korea, was co-presented for the first time with the APEC Harmonization Center (AHC) and the Drug Information Association (DIA).
The theme was “Asia’s Role in Global Drug Development” and the program covered the following topics:
Update on ICH activities
Regional harmonization initiatives
Early & late clinical development in Asia
Ensuring quality
Pharmacovigilance
Good regulatory practice
Similar bio-therapeutic products
Ethical business practices
The Program Committee Chair Mr. Andre Broekmans (Merck & Co.) said: “While industry is increasing its R&D activities in this region, regulatory harmonization initiatives will help to simplify the development and approval of safe and efficacious pharmaceutical products in Asia, which will help to make it an even more interesting market.”
The conference brought together around 600 delegates from regulatory authorities, academia and industry from across the Asia-Pacific region and elsewhere to review progress in this area and discuss remaining obstacles.
